THE story
Behind Whitesands Sauna is local carpenter and surfer, Greg Rødland Buick. He spends as much time as possible in the sea, and Whitesands is his favourite place on Earth.
For years, Greg and his friends dreamt about having a community sauna that could warm them up on those cold, windy Whitesands days, and bring about the exhilarating joy and relaxation that only sea swimming and saunas can do.
This project is inspired by Greg's father, Wyn Buick, and his love of swimming. Living with Parkinson's disease, he found that cold water swimming had incredible mental and physical health benefits, but he always struggled to warm up afterwards.
Whitesands Sauna is a place where others can discover the same joy, invigoration and resilience - whilst warming up through a fun, and accessible sauna experience.
community at the heart
St Davids locals who feel they could benefit from regular sauna use - perhaps managing chronic pain, mental health challenges, or other medical issues - can self-refer to receive one free session per week for a month.
For those looking to make sauna a regular ritual, the Whitesands Sauna Club offers weekly sessions for just £25 per month, helping to nurture a vibrant and supportive community around the sauna.

BUILDING A SAUNA
This is not Greg Rødland Buick's first sauna projects. One of his previous sauna builds involved transforming an old clinker-built wooden boat into a sauna by cutting it in half and turning it upside down to create a roof.
